London sword attack victim named – ‘hearts are broken’ & ‘Rishi’s Rwanda Raids’

Most of Thursday’s front pages lead with the first pictures of the 14-year-old boy who was killed in the London sword attack. A stranger stabbed Daniel Anjorin as he was en route to school. The attack is not suspected to be terrorism, and police confirm the schoolboy was not known to the attacker. It is not believed to have been a targeted attack.

Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, was charged with Daniel’s murder.

Many of the back pages report on Borussia Dortmund’s 1-0 win over PSG in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Champions League. Elsewhere, in the WSL, Chelsea’s title hopes have been dashed after a shock 4-3 Liverpool win.

    ‘Tributes to Daniel Anjorin’

Daniel’s family and friends have paid tribute to the teenager – described as a “joyful boy”, a “star pupil” with a “bright future”.

The Daily Mirror leads with tributes to Daniel. The paper quotes a family friend fondly remembering the “joyful boy” who is described as a “star pupil” with a “bright future”.

The Daily Express also leads with tributes to the “wonderful” 14-year-old. The Daily Mail notes he was a “true scholar.”

The Metro reports that Daniel Anjorin attended the same school as Grace O’Malley-Kumar, who was stabbed to death in Nottingham last year. It says the flag at Bancroft’s School in Woodford Green was flown at half mast in tribute to Daniel and that the school said it was “scarcely believable” it was facing a second tragedy.

    ‘Rishi’s Rwanda Raids’

Another popular lead for Thursday’s newspapers is the UK-Rwanda policy.

The Daily Mail reports on the dramatic raids that have seen migrants detained, calling it the ‘day Rwanda become reality.’

The Daily Telegraph picks up on the row with Ireland – as they send in police to their borders after news migrants were heading to the Republic over fears of deportation to Rwanda.

The Times leads on Labour’s plans for Channel migrants to get asylum – the paper says tens of thousands who have come to the UK illegally could get asylum.

The i newspaper says Rwanda flights could still be delayed as civil servants sue the government.

The Independent features a large image of officers ‘rounding up’ migrants for the first flight to Rwanda. The headline calls it “Rishi’s Rwanda raids.”
