Liverpool have held ‘positive talks’ with Bayern Munich midfielder Ryan Gravenerch’s camp, but the Bundesliga giants are not interested in selling the Dutch star.
The Reds have already signed Alexis Mac Allister from Brighton but are looking to add at least one more midfielder to their squad this summer.
James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain have all left on free transfers, while the midfield was generally considered in need of an upgrade anyway.
Among those linked with a move to Anfield are Khephren Thuram from Nice, Manu Kone of Borussia Monchengladbach, Celta Vigo’s Gabri Veiga and Southampton youngster Romeo Lavia.
Gravenberch is also on their wanted list and talks have been held between Liverpool and the Dutchman’s camp.
The Athletic report that there have been ‘positive discussions’ between the Premier League side and Gravenberch’s representatives, but that does not mean a move is in the offing.
All depends on whether Bayern want to let the 21-year-old go and their stance is clear that he is not for sale at this stage.
The Netherlands international only started three Bundelisga games in the season just gone, making 24 league appearances in total and six more in the Champions League.
However, two of those three starts came since Thomas Tuchel took over as manager and the former Chelsea boss clearly rates the young Dutchman.
‘I see his qualities in training,’ Tuchel said of Gravenberch. ‘He’s training well. He’s a No.8 who can turn and dribble very well. Now it’s about being patient. It’s about fighting to be there.’
The 21-year-old is one of a number of targets.
