Liverpool failed with a £100 million bid to sign Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, according to reports.
Jurgen Klopp’s side brought in Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Wataru Endo as part of their midfield revamp in the summer transfer window.
But Liverpool also missed out on two key targets as Chelsea won the race to sign both Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
According to AS, Liverpool submitted a £100m offer to Newcastle for Guimaraes in the closing stages of the summer window.
However, Newcastle rejected Liverpool’s approach for the Brazilian midfielder.

Guimaraes joined Newcastle in a £40m deal from Lyon in January 2022 and didn’t take long to make an impact at the heart of Eddie Howe’s midfield.
Speaking about the midfielder’s impact on his Newcastle side, Howe said last month: ‘He’s a hugely important player for us, he’s got that mixture in his game.
‘He’s an unbelievable technician, he takes the ball anywhere. But he’s also got a real grit and determination off the ball as well.
‘He’s been a game-changer for us.’
