Liam Payne ‘delays second solo album’ amid personal drama
Liam Payne’s second solo album is now reportedly ‘completely on pause’ as the singer faces ongoing drama in his personal life.
The 31-year-old rose to fame as a member of One Direction, which went on to became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time.
After the band went on hiatus in 2015, Liam signed his own record deal, releasing his debut solo album, LP1, four years later.
However, it largely received negative reviews after peaking at number 17 on the UK Albums Chart.
Now, five years later, plans for his second solo album are said to have been scrapped.
Earlier this year Liam’s single Teardrops was released but failed to enter the UK top 30 and not long after he also split with his manager.
‘Things are tough for Liam at the moment. His former manager Roger stepped back earlier this year,’ a source told The Sun.
‘He was a steady hand for Liam and he appears to be struggling without his guidance. Things have started to seem slightly erratic, with plans being made before they are cancelled last minute.’
They continued: ‘Liam had been doing really well on his second album but now it’s completely on pause. Liam is telling people now he has no idea if it’ll ever be released.’
Additionally, it is reported that a planned documentary about Liam’s career has been axed.
Earlier this year the singer shared an update about working on his second album.
‘This time, the scariest part is that every one of these songs is a story from my life,’ he told Q Radio.
‘And they’re really close to me. I hope people feel that through every song, that I actually felt whatever it is you’re feeling right now listening to this.
‘We’ve rewritten a lot of these songs based off the idea of where we’re going with this and also how I’m feeling as a person. I used to show up to sing a song, then go. Absolutely not this time. We’re going to have fun with this.’
He earlier said Teardrops was ‘about the vulnerability of heartbreak and the challenge of overcoming those moments’.
Liam said the single ‘marks the start of a new beginning’, before promising fans that there was ‘lots more to come in 2024’.
This all comes as he was accused of repeatedly contacting his ex-girlfriend and former fiancée Maya Henry.
Liam began dating model Maya in 2019, getting engaged in August 2020 however they split in 2022.
Since then, Liam has been dating influencer Kate Cassidy, while Maya has been working on her recently published novel Looking Forward – which is about dating a popstar.
However earlier this week Maya shared a scathing video on social media with numerous claims about Liam’s alleged behaviour towards her, claiming he is ‘blowing up my phone’ with messages.
Talking to her followers on the social video website, she said: ‘Ever since we broke up he messages me, will blow up my phone. Not only from his phone, it’s always from different phone numbers too, so I never know where it’s gonna come from.’
She then claimed he also repeatedly messaged her mum and friends.
