Lewis Hall’s loan move to Crystal Palace is imminent after he agreed a new contract which could keep him at Chelsea until 2030, according to reports.

Palace have been eyeing up the Chelsea youngster from as early as May, stepping up their interest last week following a series of injuries to Roy Hodgson’s squad.

With Tyrick Mitchell and Will Hughes still on the sidelines, Palace are a midfielder and left-back light going into the new season – the two positions that Hall specialises in.

Interest in the 18-year-old was high following his breakthrough campaign last season but the Eagles won the race for his services thanks in part to Hodgson’s close friendship with Mauricio Pochettino.

Hall is tipped to for great things and as such Chelsea have been keen to tie his future down to Stamford Bridge, recently triggering a clause that has extended his contract until 2026.

But that is still not long enough for Todd Boehly and co., with the Evening Standard reporting that Hall has signed a new six-year deal which contains an option for a further year.

He’ll now depart for Selhurst Park but is unlikely to be registered in time to feature in the South Londoners’ first game away to Sheffield United on Saturday.

The Blues had actually been open to keeping him in west London as Ben Chilwell’s back-up but that was under the proviso of selling Marc Cucurella but there has been no concrete interest in the left-back.

Hall, who was named Chelsea Academy Player of the Year for 2022/23 made 11 appearances in all competitions last season and impressed in spite of his club’s awful campaign that saw them finish below Palace in the table.

The Eagles have had great success loaning from the Blues in the past, most notably with Conor Gallagher, Michy Batshuayi and Ruben Loftus-Cheek.

He’ll become the club’s third signing of the summer after Jefferson Lerma’s free transfer from Bournemouth and Matheus Franca’s £26million move from Flamengo.
