Nineties boyband aficionados will still be reeling over the news Crazy For You crooners Let Loose are reuniting.

The acclaimed group – consisting at the time of Richie Wermerling, Lee Murray and Rob Jeffrey – had three top 10 singles between 1994 and 1997.

For many, their album Rollercoaster is one of the best-remembered releases of the decade.

On Tuesday, Let Loose exclusively revealed to Metro.co.uk that a new single is on the way – not to mention a London gig and tour.

So, what better time than now to take a trip down memory lane?

We’re remembering how Let Loose became one of the biggest pop acts of the time, from their humble beginnings to biggest bangers.

    Who are Let Loose?

Let Loose formed in the spring of 1993 when the group’s members responded to an advert in Melody Maker, a weekly British music magazine.

The band originally hoped to ‘be like Duran Duran’ but soon took another direction, according to Digital Spy.

    Who were the original members?

The original Let Loose members were Richard John ‘Richie’ Wermerling (lead vocals), Robert George Edward ‘Rob’ Jeffrey (backing vocals and guitar) and drummer Lee J Murray.

What songs are they best known for?

Let Loose were behind one of 1994’s biggest hits: Crazy For You.

Originally released in April 1993, the track only reached number 44 in the UK but was re-released the following year and climbed all the way to number 2.

As for their debut self-titled album, it peaked at number 20 in the charts and sold more than 100,000 copies.

    When did they split up?

Let Loose split in 1996 shortly after the release of their second album, Rollercoaster as fame started to take its toll.

What do we know about their reunion?

Let Loose confirmed exclusively to Metro.co.uk this month that a comeback tour is coming.

What’s more, Matthew James Pateman from Bad Boys Inc is replacing Richie as front vocalist, joining Rob and Lee.

The hitmakers have reformed to record a new single, with a gig also planned for London at the end of the year and a tour slated for 2024.

Richie declined to rejoin as he is pursuing different projects.

Meanwhile, Bad Boys Inc consisted of Matthew, alongside David W. Ross, Tony Dowding, and Ally Begg.

Their tunes included More To This World, which scored them a top 10 hit.

The group eventually split in 1995 due to a lack of artistic freedom.

Speaking of their return to the limelight, Matthew told us: ‘I’ve always had a respect for Let Loose and their music. In the industry, they were always “dumped” into the “boy band” category – but they’re more than that.

He added: ‘I’m excited to work with Lee and Rob on this new venture. We have some great new material lined up and the new single is sounding awesome.’
