Leonardo DiCaprio was questioned by the FBI over his ties to Malaysian fugitive Jho Low, who was previously a financer.

Low is wanted by international authorities due to his suspected links to a money-laundering scheme.

Titanic star DiCaprio was asked about his and Low’s relationship and even addressed a grand jury.

Low allegedly siphoned billions of dollars from a Malaysian state investment fund, which the Guardian billed as being ‘one of the world’s largest corruption scandals’.

The paper notes that DiCaprio was quizzed by the FBI in 2018, eight years after the Oscar-winner met Low at a nightclub.

DiCaprio apparently told a grand jury: ‘I was working for him … and that business also translates into being social. And so we saw each other more, and there was more interaction.’

He and Low also ‘discussed ideas’ for a $1billion film-making fund, not to mention the building of a theme park in Asia that boasted rides based on DiCaprio’s films.

Quoting a new Bloomberg report, the paper also said Low referred to DiCaprio as ‘L-Dogg’ while the actor called Low ‘my man’.

Low and DiCaprio even met one another’s mums and the former ‘showered’ the latter with luxury gifts such as a $9million (£7.6million) Jean-Michel Basquiat painting and Marlon Brandon’s Oscar statue, worth $600,000 (£498,000).

DiCaprio is said to have returned said gifts.

The actor allegedly told the FBI that he’d been told Low was ‘the Mozart of the business world’.

Kim Kardashian is also said to have been interviewed by the FBI and apparently told the agency that she once partied until 5am at a Las Vegas casino with Low.
