The Government and the PSOE also express their satisfaction with the votes of the last plenary session of the course
The final super plenary session of this period of sessions has ended up providing a bit of satisfaction for the two very different blocks that coexist in Congress. The PP and Junts have mutually voted for two amendments on different issues and this reality has made it easy for the popular leaders to appear almost exultant. The PP has thus supported an amendment by Junts, which has passed with 178 votes in favor compared to 171 against, to provide tax aid to the victims of the dana and the popular have also supported another amendment registered by Carles Puigdemont’s party to modify the VAT to 4% on fermented dairy products (yogurts) and which has been approved by 179 affirmative votes compared to 170 negative votes.
Junts, for its part, has voted with the PP on the amendment to exempt workers affected by the dana from paying taxes on donations, which has achieved 181 votes in favor compared to 167 against and one abstention. The vice president and Minister of Finance, María Jesús Montero, has clarified in statements at the end of the plenary session that these amendments will have minor economic consequences on the Budgets.
The other vote in which Junts has voted with the PP has been precisely the one related to the repeal of the special tax for large energy companies, which has registered 183 yes votes against 166 noes. Sources from the leadership of the socialist group have also concluded that the session had been positive for their interests, especially in the global calculation, because they had managed to push forward one of the star laws promoted by the Minister of Justice to improve the efficiency of the Public Service of Justice, which Podemos had threatened to overthrow, and because in the other amendments agreed between Junts and the PP the economic impact was minimal.
The Government and the PSOE understand that this is how the President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, will be able to present and appear on Monday in La Moncloa, with a good balance of this first year of the legislature with a total of 25 bills and decrees endorsed by the Courts in a context of great political complexity.
