    Media Coverage

The story dominates every major publication in Britain as the prime minister is set to lay out his vision for the country and announce various measures and plans to get the country back on track.

Online the story remains popular and will likely stay popular across social media.

Other trending stories today include the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.

Labour Party conference latest: Chancellor Rachel Reeves and PM Keir Starmer offer up new vision for Britain

Coverage of the Labour Party conference continues to trend across UK media – online and in print – as the new government sets out its vision for a new Britain. Yesterday, Chancellor Rachel Reeves promised no return to austerity and offered up a more optimistic view of the British economy despite months of doom and gloom.

On social media, users are still reacting to the events surrounding the chancellor’s speech.

The print media looks ahead to Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer’s speech today where he will tell the country that there will be ‘light at the end of the tunnel.’ Many papers say the prime minister’s speech will warn he can’t lower taxes yet but can bring joy back into people’s lives.

The prime minister will be looking to change the narrative around his new government – which has been dogged with sleaze stories and labelled gloomy since the Labour Party came to power in July.

    Basic facts

    • The Labour Party Conference started on Sunday
    • Chancellor Rachel Reeves promised no return to austerity in her speech yesterday
    • The PM will deliver his speech today where he will make several pledges including cracking down on benefit fraud & introducing the Hillsborough Law and more
    • The party conference comes amid a row over party donations, party sleaze and the chancellor’s ‘doom-and-gloom’ warnings about the public finances

    The reaction

The papers have already previewed much of the party’s speeches so there isn’t much reaction to the Rachel Reeves speech yesterday. Instead, the print media looks ahead to Sir Keir Starmer’s speech.

On social media, there are reactions to the pro-Gaza heckler as well as continued coverage of the sleaze scandals facing the Labour Party.

Like print media, there isn’t much of a reaction to the speech itself as much of the details of the conference speech were released a day earlier.
