Kate Beckinsale has shared a gutwrenching post about grief on Instagram, revealing her mother is in hospital undergoing treatment.
The 50-year-old actress recently shared snaps of her insane birthday party before sharing videos of herself putting a cannula in a friend’s arm as she trained as a nurse.
She has since shared pictures that suggest her mum, Judy Loe, has been going through intensive treatment in hospital but she did not directly address what was happening.
Kate posted tearful pictures with her beloved cat Clive, who she lost in June, amid the images of her hospitalised 76-year-old mum.
Clive was often featured on the star’s social media, becoming a minor celebrity himself so the loss hit Kate very hard.
‘Embrace joy. Accept grief. Wear feathers. Sing. Do what makes you feel happy even for a moment,’ wrote the Serendipity actress on Instagram.

The pictures also included a close-up of Kate with swollen eyelids, suggesting she had been crying, as well as a little tombstone for Clive.
Kate continued: ‘Pair grief and sickness and fear with as much life and laughter and celebration as you possibly can. It doesn’t mean you are having some sort of crisis.
‘It means you are choosing life, fiercely. Be brave, and when you don’t feel brave, listen.
‘Laugh hard, dance hard, cry hard, love hard with those you trust. Spread love when you can. Read. Stay in bed and cry when it’s from all sides and feels like an avalanche.
‘Try not to be mean, or to take on others meanness. People can break. Be kind. Fight with everything you’ve got for your loved ones, and for your own spirit x.’

Kate also posted a series of pictures on her story of herself and her cat, Clive, who was around 15 or 16 when he passed.
The star was sent well wishes by her famous pals, such as Michelle Pfeiffer, David Furnish and Alyssa Milano who asked: ‘How can I help?’
Adding to her post, Kate said she had been asked to share the pictures by ‘loved ones who are unwell’ in response to her ‘being attacked by tabloids’, who she requested leave her alone.
She wrote: ‘They know the other side and it really upsets them to see me being bullied for appearing to enjoy my life. There’s light and shade. ‘
