Actor Julian Sands confirmed dead after remains found and identified in California mountains 

British actor Julian Sands, best known for roles in A Room With A View and Smallville, has been confirmed dead after his remains were found in mountains in California. 

Walkers found the remains on Saturday, police say, and they have now been formally identified as Sands – who disappeared in January during a hike. 

Sands disappeared during bad weather on 13 January in the Baldy Bowl area of the San Gabriel Mountains. 

Searches were soon underway but the bad weather in California at the time made the search and rescue extremely difficult. 

The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department said the remains were found in the Mount Baldy area and an investigation is underway. 

“The manner of death is still under investigation, pending further test results.

“We would like to extend our gratitude to all the volunteers that worked tirelessly to try to locate Mr Sands,” they said in a statement.
