Jordan Henderson won’t be leaving the Saudi Pro League anytime soon as Al-Ettifaq have no intention of selling him in January, according to reports.

Two weeks ago, it was reported that Henderson and his family were unsettled in Saudi Arabia and he was looking to return to the Premier League just six months after moving to the Middle East.

The former Liverpool captain joined Al-Ettifaq, who are managed by his former Reds teammate Steven Gerrard, for £12million last summer in a highly controversial transfer.

Though a move back to England looks unlikely, Ajax and Juventus have both been in talks with the midfielder.

It was thought that a loan move would be his only viable means of escape however, though even that would be complicated given that Henderson is reportedly being paid a whopping £692,000-a-week.

Both sides are determined to sign the experienced England international, who himself is hoping a move back to Europe can keep him in prime contention for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s squad for Euro 2024.

However, the Daily Mail now report that Al-Ettifaq have absolutely no interest whatsoever in letting their star player leave the club.

Henderson flew out to Abu Dhabi on Saturday to join up with his side for a two-week training camp while the Saudi Pro League is on it’s winter break.

It is said that club officials will speak to the Three Lions star about his situation and make it clear to him that they have no plans to let him go.

Gerrard himself is keen to keep his former teammate with his side win-less in nine games before the winter break, results that have put the former Aston Villa and Rangers boss under a lot of pressure.
