John Barrowman left fans confused as she furiously kicked off against ‘name calling’.
The former Doctor Who and Torchwood star, 56, hit out with a strongly-worded message on social media addressed to those ‘who are constantly s******g all over me.’
‘You want to comment about something you think you know everything about but actually know nothing, because you were not there,’ he wrote.
‘The event you all constantly refer to, like you know what happened, is not in anyway what happened.’
He said he had been ‘vague and quiet’ about an incident as it involved someone else who was ‘part of the stupidity and outrageous fun’ who was also ‘reprimanded.’
Now however he says he is ‘sick of the nasty name calling and the vile attitudes towards me.’
‘I never want anyone to experience the hate that has been spewed in my direction over the last 2 years. So please unfollow me while you let that sink in and Happy Holidays (sic).’
John did not make clear what he was referring to, however two years ago he admitted ‘exposing himself’ on the sets of Doctor Who and Torchwood, apologising for ‘tomfoolery’.
Two former runners alleged that while on set, Barrowman would ‘would get his genitals out on a regular basis’, although stressed that it was ‘larking about’ and not sexually predatory behaviour.
However fans of the Captain Jack Harkness actor were baffled as to what he was talking about, with one Twitter (X) user writing she was ‘rather glad I have absolutely no idea what this is all about.’
Zdoctorwhofan wrote ‘bro I’m so confused what is going on?’ while Ben Guinan admitted he has ‘no idea what is being referenced here.’

IHeartHader said ‘no idea what happened, and I’m sure even if I did, it wouldn’t matter.’
Plenty of other fans however simply showed their support for John and urged him to ‘keep your head up high.’
In a Guardian article in 2021, a former runner on the Doctor Who set said: ‘Sometimes he’d call me into his dressing room, and I would knock on the door and he’d say, “Oh, look at this”, and he’d just have his willy out, standing in the doorway. It was kind of accepted that it was his thing.’
John himself told the outlet that his ‘high-spirited behaviour’ was ‘only ever intended in good humour to entertain colleagues on set and backstage’, and said: ‘With the benefit of hindsight, I understand that upset may have been caused by my exuberant behaviour.’

He added that his ‘understanding and behaviour have also changed.’
Actress Freema Agyeman, who played Martha on Torchwood, told thelondonpaper in 2008: ‘John will walk about with his chap hanging out, having conversations with people… everyone would just be talking to him normally and it would only be the new people, such as myself, that would be freaked out.’
Former Doctor Who executive producer Julie Gardner confirmed to the newspaper that Barrowman had been reprimanded over his behaviour on the set of Torchwood, and that his ‘inappropriate behaviour’ stopped after it was stressed that it would not be tolerated.
And a spokesperson for the BBC told Metro.co.uk at the time: ‘The BBC is against all forms of inappropriate behaviour and we’re shocked to hear of these allegations. To be absolutely clear, we will investigate any specific allegations made by individuals to the BBC – and if anyone has been subjected to or witnessed inappropriate behaviour of any kind we would encourage them to raise it with us directly.
‘We have a zero tolerance approach and robust processes are in place – which are regularly reviewed and updated to reflect best practice – to ensure any complaints or concerns are handled with the utmost seriousness and care.’
