Jesy Nelson shares update after weeks-long silence during complicated pregnancy
Jesy Nelson and Zion Foster have updated fans after weeks of silence on her pregnancy. She shared a positive health update with her fans after undergoing emergency surgery with her twin babies.
The pregnant pop star, 33, announced earlier this year that she and boyfriend Zion Foster, 25, are expecting two little ones together.
However, the former Little Mix member has had a complicated pregnancy, to say the least.
In her previous update in early March, Jesy revealed that her unborn babies were at risk of dying, explaining in an emotional video that they were ‘living off one placenta’.
At the time, she said she was at pre-stage TTTS (twin-to-twin transfusion syndrome) and was being monitored closely, having scans twice a week.
Now, to mark Mother’s Day, the Boyz hitmaker has returned to social media with a high-spirited video message, filmed inside her hospital room.
‘We just wanted to give you guys an update, as we know it’s been a while,’ she began.
‘I don’t know if you can see, but we are still in hospital, I’ve been recovering, but we have some amazing news to her instagram followers.
‘The TTTS has cleared up; the operation was a success, which is just absolutely incredible. We are so, so lucky to have the most amazing doctors.’
She continued: ‘Basically, the situation we’re in now is my cervix is very, very short, so I can’t leave the hospital because my waters could break at any point and I’m still very, very early.’
‘I can’t leave the hospital until I’m a certain amount of weeks, so every week we’re just like, “Please, please, please, stay in there!”,’ she begged, grabbing her belly.
The Little Mix star had to undergo emergency surgery
Jesy added that she and Zion are ‘so grateful’ to still have their unborn twins ‘going strong’.
Musician Zion chimed in: ‘One week at a time, but we’re in such a blessed position to even be able to make this video.’
He then had his own news to reveal, explaining that he will be running the London Marathon in just four weeks to raise money for the Twins Trust.
‘We spoke with them and we heard so much about the amazing work that they do for twins, for families of twins, for midwives, and they literally save lives.
‘With Jess going through what she’s going through, as much as I’m going through it too, I feel like I’m not really carrying the babies… this was my way of saying, “I’m gonna throw myself in the deep end!”‘
Inundated with supportive messages
After sharing the post with Jesy’s 9.7million followers, the parents-to-be were inundated with supportive messages, with fans hailing her broken silence as a ‘relief’.
‘So happy everything is going so well!! Sending you all so much positive energy, love and best wishes!! ❤️ Proud of you both!’, commented Insta user @silviyabikova.
‘Really happy for you both, I’ve been thinking of you every day! Such amazing news! Congratulations and wishing you the best for what’s coming! ♥️’, commented @perrieox.
‘Happy Mother’s Day Jesy! This has made our day. We’ve been praying for you every day xx’, added @mamaacademy.

Jesy also received three celebratory emoji from Stacey Dooley in her comment, while Billie Shepherd said: ‘Amazing news ❤️ sending you all lots of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️’
She and Zion announced their pregnancy news in January with a sweet Polaroid photo, writing in the caption: ‘She’s eating for 3 now 👶👶’.
The pair first started dating in 2022 after meeting through friends. After a brief split last year, they rekindled their romance.
Their venture into parenthood comes five years after Jesy left X Factor band Little Mix, in which she performed alongside Perrie Edwards, Leigh-Anne Pinnock, and Jade Thirlwall.
She cited mental health struggles at the time, having spoken openly in the past about the impact of the pressures of being in a girl group.
What does mono/di twins mean and what are the risks?
Monochorionic diamniotic (Mo-Di) twins are twins that share a placenta and therefore a blood supply. Around 20% of all twin pregnancies are mono/di twins.
The babies share a placenta (mono) but have their own amniotic sacs (diamniotic).
While most mono/di twins are healthy, they have a much higher risk of complications, and so are monitored closely.
What is twin-twin transfusion syndrome (TTTS)
Twin-twin transfusion syndrome occurs in, according to Healthline, around 15 to 20% of mono/di pregnancies.
It happens when blood is not evenly shared between the twins. It can lead to serious illness or death of one or both of the twins.
The couple also kindly requested that fans donate whatever they can to the organisation.
