Jenni Hermoso and other members of the Spain Women’s team will not represent their country until Luis Rubiales has been removed from his job as head of the Spanish football federation.
Rubiales has refused to resign from his role in the aftermath widespread condemnation for kissing midfielder Hermoso on the lips without consent during the trophy presentation following Spain’s World Cup victory over England.
56 players including Hermoso and her World Cup-winning teammates have now signed a joint statement demanding Rubiales be removed from his position at the top of Spanish football.
