Jenna Ortega has found herself in the firing line during the ongoing Writers Guild of America strike.

Members of the WGA went on strike earlier this week over pay issues with ongoing negotiations over increased salaries, and many shows have been impacted or even pulled off air.

Many writers have found themselves on the picket line to make their voices heard, and some of them couldn’t resist cheeky digs at the Wednesday star.

Earlier this year, Jenna made headlines when she talked about the quality of writing on the hit Netflix series, and revealed she actually ‘started changing lines’.

She told Armchair Expert at the time: ‘There were times on that set where I almost became unprofessional in a sense, where I just started changing lines.

‘The script supervisor thought that I was like going with something and then I would have to sit down with the writers and they would be like “Wait, what happened to this scene?”

‘And I would have to go through and explain why I couldn’t do certain things.’

Writers took issue with her comments at the time, and after spotting Jenna’s appearance at the Met Gala on Monday, BoJack Horseman writer Nick Adams quipped: ‘Jenna Ortega better be back from NY for her afternoon shift on the picket line.’

Yellowjackets writer Karen Joseph Adcock shared his tweet and added: ‘Rewriting is writing! See you at the line, Jenna!’

“Just Roll With It” and “House Party” writer Brandon Cohen’s #writersstrike sign:

“Without writers, Jenna Ortega will have nothing to punch up!”

And in a photo shared by Variety on Twitter, Brandon Cohen – who works on Disney Channel’s Just Roll With It – was holding up a sign also referencing her comments.

He had written: ‘Without writers, Jenna Ortega will have nothing to punch up!’

The strike was officially announced on Monday May 1) and started the following day, marking the first strike in Hollywood since 2007.

It followed weeks of failed talks with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers (AMPTP).

Meanwhile, chat show hosts Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers are reportedly set to pay their staff out of their own pocket during the third week of strikes, after NBC paid for the first two weeks of salaries.
