Israel vows retaliation over Iran attack after calls for restraint
Israel’s war cabinet met on Monday to discuss their response to the unprecedented attack by Iran on Saturday – in which more than 300 missiles and drones were launched.
Israel has not confirmed what they have decided to do.
Around 99% of missiles launched were shot down or intercepted by Israel, the US and other allies. Projectiles were fired at Israel from Iran, Iraq, Syria and Yemen.
Tehran said the attack was retaliation for the Israeli air strike on its consulate in Syria on 1 April, which killed 13 people. Israel denies responsibility for the attack.
While Iran has signalled it considers the matter closed, the Israeli military’s chief of staff said the attack would not go unanswered.

US President Joe Biden has pledged American support to Israel whilst saying he wants to stop the conflict in the Middle East from escalating.
Rishi Sunak has called on all sides to show restraint, adding that the UK was working with allies to de-escalate the situation.
