Israel orders Palestinians to leave southern Gaza area after rocket fire

The Israeli military has ordered Palestinians to evacuate an area east of Khan Younis in southern Gaza after rockets were fired toward Israel.

People received audio warnings, followed by messages in Arabic on social media. Witnesses report many are already fleeing.

This evacuation comes after about 20 rockets were launched towards Israel, the most intense attack in months. Some rockets were intercepted, while others landed in open areas without causing injuries. Palestinian Islamic Jihad claimed responsibility for the attack, citing retaliation for Israeli “crimes.”

The evacuation order affects the area around the European Hospital southeast of Khan Younis. Staff are moving key equipment to Nasser Hospital, and some staff and patients have already left.

Meanwhile, heavy fighting continues in Shejaiya in northern Gaza, and an Israeli soldier was killed in Rafah. Israel’s prime minister described the ongoing military efforts across Palestinian territory as a “difficult fight.”
