Over the course of his career, Jerry Springer was a significant figure in both the political and entertainment world.
While many will know him from his hugely popular talk show – The Jerry Springer Show – which ran from 1991 to 2018, but before broadcasting he had a role in politics, serving as the Mayor of Cinnciantti from 1977 to 1978.
With news of his death at the age of 79, many fans are looking back over his career which saw him host a podcast, America’s Got Talent and the reality court show Judge Jerry, as well as appearing on the likes of Dancing With The Stars and The Masked Singer.

Jerry Springer was only married once in his life to Micki Velton from 1973 to 1994.
While there may have been many a dramatic moment on the Jerry Springer Show across the years, Springer kept his personal life away from the spotlight, so not much is known about their married life.

According to The Sun, they met on a blind date in 1969 before tying the knot in 1973, around the time that Springer was serving on the Cincinnati City Council.
They divorced in 1994, and Springer never remarried and continued to keep his private life away from the public eye, as has Micki Velton.

Who is Jerry Springer’s daughter?
Springer and Velton do share a daughter together named Katie Springer, who similarly has rarely stepped into the spotlight herself.
According to GH Gossip, Katie was born in 1976 and is a graduate of Barat College in Illinois.
She is reportedly legally blind and deaf in one ear and became a teacher, specialising in assisting children with special needs.

She married in December 2006 – and is a mother to one son, according to The Sun.
When Jerry Springer went on the 2006 series of Dancing With The Stars – where he was partnered with Kym Johnson – he revealed he wanted to do the show to be able to learn the Waltz for his daughter’s upcoming wedding.
‘I try to do all of the dances well, but this one is more important to me,’ he said at the time.
While he was eliminated from the show in its seventh week, he did indeed get the chance to learn and perform the Waltz.
