India-Pakistan live: Pakistan says it has killed 40-50 Indian soldiers near Kashmir border in retaliation for strikes | World News
The world will be watching the escalation between India and Pakistan with “great concern”, our India reporter Neville Lazarus has said.
“We’ve seen over the last two days there’s been very heavy shelling and artillery and mortar shelling across the Line of Control,” he said.
“That’s the sort of de facto border between India and Pakistan that stretches for about 740km in Kashmir.”
He was also asked about the role the US can play in calming the tensions between the two countries.
“The US can play a major role, it probably is working the lines in the back channels on both countries,” he said.
“He [Trump] says Modi is a good friend of his, every time they meet they hug, but the US also has a great influence not only with India but also with Pakistan.”
