I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! latecomer Frankie Dettori is said to have been insured for an extraordinary amount in case of injury – £100million, it’s been claimed.
On this year’s series on ITV, the distinguished jockey joined former professional boxer Tony Bellew as they made their way into camp as the two new stars, joining the likes of Sam Thompson, Nella Rose, Jamie Lynn Spears and Nigel Farage.
While Frankie, 52, threw himself straight into the grotesque Bushtucker Trials, which are overseen by presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnely, he was apparently extra careful with his insurance policy before officially signing up.
According to a report, the athlete’s personal insurance policy is worth £50m already, but he wouldn’t accept the offer to go on I’m A Celebrity until the show took out two more policies.
A source told The Mirror: ‘Frankie can earn huge sums by winning races in this country and the prize money is even higher abroad.
‘But even a very small injury in the jungle, such as a damaged finger, could leave him unable to compete. He wants to throw himself into all of the trials that jungle bosses throw at him – he won’t be holding back while he’s in the camp.

‘But he’s also sensible of what an injury could mean for his career and future earnings, and wanted that taken into account in his deal.’
According to the publication, Frankie might have received a fee of up to £1m to enter the jungle, a third less than the former Ukip leader’s reported £1.5m taking.
The insider added that the jockey is ‘adamant’ about doing the Bushtucker Trials on I’m A Celebrity, acknowledging that he’s a ‘very competitive person’.

They outlined how he wants to ‘push himself out of his comfort zone and past his fears’, but the insurance policy that he has is of great important.
They added that while he ‘has faith in ITV’s exhaustive safety procedures’, he also wants to feel secure himself that he’s covered, just in case.
On Sunday night’s show, Nella and Sam are set to take part in an underwater challenge, which will test their physicality, their acumen and their nerve.
Metro.co.uk has contacted ITV and Frankie Dettori’s representatives for comment.
I’m A Celebrity returns tonight at 9pm on ITV1 and ITVX.
