The viewing figures for I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! 2023 have been revealed – and there’s been a huge decline since last year.
During Sunday night’s show, high-profile figures including Nigel Farage, Jamie Lynn Spears, Grace Dent and Josie Gibson entered camp after taking part in daring challenges.
The appointment of former Ukip leader Farage in the cast has stoked up backlash from the get-go, with the politician reportedly paid a salary of £1.5million, more than three times the amount that Matt Hancock received for the 2022 series.
It appears the hope that Farage’s controversial casting would bring in more viewers hasn’t been successful, when assessing the number of viewers across the nation who tuned in to watch on ITV1.
An average of seven million viewers watched the return of I’m A Celebrity on Sunday night, according to overnight ratings.
ITV reported a peak audience of 7.8 million watched the first episode of the 23rd series.
In comparison, the 2022 launch had an average audience of 9.1m, according to ITV overnight ratings.
