Nigel Farage: Ideas from Liz Truss 'will be very popular' among Tories and voters generally
Nigel Farage said that the ideas being promoted by former Prime Minister Liz Truss at the launch of the Popular Conservatism movement will prove to be “very popular” with voters.
He told GB News: “I’m interested in ideas. Didn’t spend 25 years in UKIP without being interested in ideas.
“I have a sense that a lot of what’s going to be said today by Liz Truss and others will be very popular amongst Conservative activists, Conservative voters, and the broader country as well.
“And yet, have a look around this room. How many current serving Conservative Members of Parliament are here? I think less than a handful.
“The point really is that, whilst I agree with many of the things, but not all the many of the things that Liz Truss is saying, within the Conservative parliamentary party she’s part of an embattled minority.”
In an interview with Christopher Hope, he continued: “I’m not joining this group.
“I’m interested in the ideas and I think after the Conservatives get thrashed at the next election, which by the way, they thoroughly, thoroughly deserve, then I think, maybe, finally, we’ll get a reuniting of the right in British politics.
“It was briefly presented to the electorate in December 2019. It won them an 80-seat majority. The problem was the Conservative Party never really believed in the things they were putting to the electorate.”
He added: “A big part of this is just how well Reform do. Every vote Reform gets makes a re-alignment of some kind more likely.”

The focus of the article is on Nigel Farage – who also presents on the GB News channel. He is promoting a fraction of the Conservative Party that he appears to align with – right-wing Conservatism, whilst claiming he is not planning on joining the party ‘yet.’
The article offers up no balanced argument on Liz Truss’s new movement within the Tory party and instead simply promotes PopCon (Popular Conservatism).
Not balanced.
It’s also worth noting that Nigel Farage is a paid presenter on GB News.
GB News media has an inherited bias as a pro-Brexit Channel.
