BBC left reeling as staff ‘only told hours before Huw Edwards porn charges made public’
BBC colleagues of former news anchor Huw Edwards were reportedly only told he was facing criminal charges just hours before it was made public.
The Met Police announced this week Edwards, 62, is due in court on Wednesday after being charged with making indecent images of children.
According to The Times, the news the veteran broadcaster was facing criminal proceedings was only revealed to the BBC hours before it was announced to the nation.
A senior source told the paper many staff were rocked by the news, adding: “The BBC was informed by the Met Police when a call came through [on Monday].”
Southport update on hero teacher stabbed in back, arms and neck while shielding girls
A heroic dance teacher took knife slashes to her back, arms and neck as she bravely put herself between her pupils and an attacker. Leanne Lucas, who had organised and was running the Taylor Swift-inspired class in Southport, Merseyside, on Monday, July 29, has been fighting for her life in hospital.
Three children died after a knife-wielding man entered a premises in Hart Street, with a number of others also in critical conditions days on. Police arrested a 17-year-old boy on suspicion of murder and attempted murder and have been granted more time to quiz the suspect.
The teenager has not been named for legal reasons, but remains in custody. Three girls; Alice Dasilva Aguiar, nine, Bebe King, six, and Elsie Dot Stancombe, seven, died from their injuries.
Event abandoned on debut as Team GB clinch two gold medals
It was another great day for Team GB on Tuesday with two more gold medals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Nathan Hales took glory by setting a new Games record in the men’s trap shooting final, while in the pool Matt Richards, James Guy, Tom Dean and Duncan Scott defended their 4x200m freestyle relay title.
And the dream continues for Andy Murray and Dan Evans, who saved two match points in an epic 6-3 6-7 (8-10) 11-9 win over Belgium’s Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen in the second round.
