Hunt for Tube hero who gave blind man his shoes after he lost one through the gap

The hunt is on find an ‘absolute hero’ who gave his shoe to a blind man after he lost his on an Underground track – and the good deed went viral on social media.

A Tube passenger – called Sami – posted a picture of a fellow traveller sitting with only one shoe on after he donated the other to a sightless man.

Sami told Metro the blind man lost his shoe down the side of the train getting on a Circle line train at King’s Cross before becoming unsteady and frustrated.

He added: ‘The blind man was getting on and lost his shoe. He was struggling and some of us on the carriage went to try to help him.

‘He was worried about his shoe. Then this dude just took his off and said ‘here take mine’.

‘It was such an act of kindness it really showed that people are good and that mainly we try and look after one another.

‘I’ve only ever known London to be a kind place. Just to think of it sends shivers down my spine.

‘I think the guy who gave his shoe was from India and I will never forget this act of kindness.’

In his post online Sami said: ‘So I’ve got to say this guy is an absolute hero. He has no shoes on for a reason…

‘Today a blind man tried to get on at King’s Cross. The man was being assisted by TfL to get on but as getting on the blind man tripped.

‘A few of us on the train then helped the gentleman find a seat. Once the man sat down he realised he had a missing shoe. It slipped between the platform and the train.

‘Before the train left the platform we all tried to tell the TfL driver… But I’m guessing a miss communication occured and the train left the platform. On doing so the blindman got a bit panicked as he only had one shoe.

‘This absolute hero with out hesitation took off his shoe and gave it to the blindman.

‘He didn’t want thanks or praise, he simply did it. It is a damn cold day after he got out at Liverpool Street to try and find a pair of shoes.

‘I’ve covered the guys face as he doesn’t know I have posted this and I want to respect a bit of his privacy. I’m not one for sharing feel good posts etc, but when I saw this happen it sent a shiver down my spine.

‘I want to share this with other people and let them know there are incredible people in the world! The world is a good place, we all just need to do our bit!’

Station staff at King’s Cross told Metro that the man was an ‘absolute hero’ and their colleagues also assisted.

A Tube worker at King’s Cross told Metro: ‘The guy who helped is a hero. There’s so much aggro that we see but this was a case of someone going out of their way to help.

‘We were shocked and amazed that someone would carry out such a good deed. There is some positivity left in the world after all.’

He added: ‘Our staff also helped the blind man and all round people pulled together.

‘It’s a great positive story coming up into the Christmas season and we would love to find the guy who was so kind hearted.’
