No one can say Hugh Jackman isn’t dedicated, as he’s literally breaking his clothes as he bulks up for Deadpool 3.
Back in September, Marvel fans were whipped into a frenzy by the news the Logan star would be reprising his role as Wolverine ‘one more time.’
Hugh has been confirmed to star alongside Ryan Reynolds in the third of the Deadpool franchise, which is slated for release in September 2024.
The former X-Men star has been playing less fight-heavy roles in recent years, instead exploring his musical side in roles like The Greatest Showman and Les Miserables.
Now preparing to return to the MCU, the actor is going all-out to regain the Wolverine physique – and it’s causing a bit of mayhem in his current role, where he’s performing on stage in The Music Man.
Speaking to Variety, he explained he’s doing everything to bulk up, including with protein shakes, and it’s working despite losing an average of 1,500 calories a night performing on stage.

‘Apologies to the entire cast of The Music Man, and in particular my dresser and my wife — all the protein shakes are starting to kick in fast, he joked.
He revealed that his on-stage costumes for the musical have already had to be let out twice to account for his changing body, and ‘the other night, I could hear the Velcro go creaking and actually popped open.’
‘I’ve split two pairs of pants!’

He recalled a mad rush backstage one night after he ripped a pair of pants, minutes before he went on stage.
‘It was an 18-inch tear. I had about two minutes.
‘I said to the stage manager, “New pair of pants!£ I had my pants around my ankles. I thought, if my dresser doesn’t get here in time, it’s better to go on in split pants than no pants. Then I saw him running from stage right to stage left, top speed.
‘We made it just in time.’
Hugh and Welcome To Wrexham star Ryan announced in a now-viral video in September that the pair would be appearing together in the next Deadpool film, with the Wade Wilson actor sharing the exciting news with fans.

Speaking about Deadpool joining the MCU, he said it ‘needs to feel special. We need to stay true to the character, find new dept and motivation, new meaning.’
He continued: ‘But we did have one idea. Hey Hugh, you want to play Wolverine one more time?’
Hugh then appeared in the frame and walked up the stairs eating food behind him, replying: ‘Yeah, sure Ryan.’

The Deadpool character, of course, made his big screen debut in 2009’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine, before landing his own spin-off series.
Deadpool 3 is slated for release on September 6 2024.
