How to make the most of ‘me-time’ this new year

Sure it’s a new year but don’t let that get in the way of you.

We mean it – more than half (58%*) of the nation thinks Christmas is the busiest time of the year so by now you’re probably just about catching your breath after scurrying around, buying gifts, spending hours battling a roll of wrapping paper and figuring out how many sprouts to buy per family member. No doubt you’ve forgotten to prioritise some ‘me time’.

In fact, almost 23% say they struggle to find two hours or more to themselves during the festive run-up.

To combat this absolute crime against enjoyment, Lenovo wants you to make time for yourself.

After contending with a packed calendar, from family celebrations to office parties, ‘friendsmas’ shindigs, and your run-of-the-mill Christmas admin (read: aforementioned sprout scouting), not to mention New Year gatherings, it comes as no surprise that a staggering 2 in 5 (45%) of Brits start the new year feeling exhausted once the glitter and tinsel has settled.

Seeing as two hours** is the desired amount of daily ‘me time’ craved by Brits, Lenovo’s Tab Extreme is the perfect tool to bring some much-needed wind down to your busy life.

It doesn’t matter what vibe your relaxing takes, the Tab Extreme has a mood for all – whether you want to kick back with a comforting classic movie, unwind with tunes or flex your artistic side.

If kicking back with a stash of leftover mince pies or a chocolate straight from the stocking and throwing on a film is your thing, the Lenovo Tab Extreme boasts a 14.5″ 3K OLED screen with stunning colours. Plus, its portability features and huge 12,300mAh battery capacity means you can enjoy up to 12 hours of streaming on a single charge no matter where you are – from travelling to and from family lunches on the train, or hiding in the spare room for a moment of calm amid the mayhem.

For the music lovers, eight JBL speakers and Dolby Atmos® combine perfectly to deliver superb audio and bring every sound to life.

More of a ‘do-er’ than a ‘watcher’? Team the Tab Extreme with the Lenovo Precision Pen 3 to bring to life sketching, painting, or doodling, for hours of creativity.

To bring the message home this new year, Lenovo has teamed up with Reece Davey, DJ and content creator, and Faye Ellaby, stylist and fashion influencer, who are both masters at juggling multiple projects while keeping up with their social life.

They’re no gatekeepers either, and between them they’ve shared their top tips on how to foster a healthy balance to make sure ‘me time’ is enjoyed every day.

It’s all about the balance, we tell you.

‘We all know that feeling of trying to juggle work with social life, it can sometimes feel like another job in itself! And often, it’s your own “me time” that pays the price when having a packed-out calendar,’ Reece says. ‘But it’s important not to sacrifice daily time for yourself and I’ve learnt that there’s different ways to squeeze in time out which has helped me avoid looming burnout.’

Reece and Faye’s top tips for squeezing in ‘me time’

    Reece says:

Look for those windows of opportunity in your day-to-day. Commuting or travel time is a brilliant way to indulge in ‘me time’. Pop your tablet in your bag and catch up on your daily time for yourself – read your next chapter, or stay up to date with your latest series.
Get out of your comfort zone! How about trying things you haven’t done before: I’ve been embracing my inner baker this year and haven’t looked back.
Don’t say yes to every occasion, it’s okay to skip a meal out and make some time for yourself. Downtime is important, protect your peace, you’ll feel better for it.

    Faye says:

Block out time in your diary/calendar that’s just for you, and make sure you stick to it. Whether you’re taking the dog for a walk, doing your skincare routine, or reading some articles you bookmarked, giving yourself even just fifteen minutes of allocated ‘me’ time works wonders.
Do more of what you love to keep your cup full. I love to keep my hands busy, so I stay off my phone where I can. I love reading, crafting, and baking, and my Lenovo Tab P12 allows me to do all of these things with ease.

With a foot pumping the breaks and more nights in, we reckon now is the perfect chance to unwind and be able to fully recharge as 2024 gets underway.
