Eric realised that he’s got no-one as the reality of his situation finally sank in (Picture: Lime Pictures)
Eric Foster (Angus Castle-Doughty) came to realise that his actions have consequences in Hollyoaks, with the incel having lost everyone who ever cared about him.
After wreaking havoc on the women of the eponymous village, the radical misogynist was apprehended in a dramatic siege earlier this year, with Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) having played an instrumental role in his downfall.
Eric was sentenced to 15 years in prison, but continued to pop up on our screens, as he made it his mission to get his sentence reduced, blackmailing James Nightingale (Gregory Finnegan) in a bid to represent him.
As part of his plot to secure his freedom, the criminal insisted that James get Maxine to pay him a visit in prison, hoping to manipulate her into believing that he was a changed man.
What he didn’t expect, however, was for Maxine – who had been tipped off by James about his client’s motivations in wanting to her visit – to turn the tables, urging the misogynist to reveal why he believes women are the root cause of his issues in life, trying to understand his logic – or lack thereof – before effortlessly pulling apart his belief system.
Eric struggled to reconcile the fact that everything he believed was a lie as he violently lashed out, with guards forced to restrain him as he pushed Maxine into a table, leaving her in agony with a deep cut on her face.

Maxine, despite having been told that she is ‘scarred for life’, is determined to not let Eric win, and Tony adopted a similar stance in Tuesday’s (May 9) first look offering of the Channel 4 soap, after receiving a visiting order from his estranged brother.
At first, Tony seemed like he might consider visiting Eric, but after discovering what his sibling did to Maxine, he resolved to ignore his request, with Eric left alone in the visiting room, the realisation sinking in that no-one was left for him to manipulate.

‘He loves to spew all those hateful ideas,’ said Maxine to Tony, reflecting on the ordeal that she’s been through at the incel’s hands. ‘But if no-one is listening, then he’s powerless.’
Tony agreed, commenting that Eric will now see what a ‘small man’ he really is. ‘No online followers, no family and no friends’, said the soap legend. ‘He’s a nobody’
