Hollyoaks hints at three major exits in tragic prison twist

Grace Black (Tamara Wall), Cindy Cunningham (Stephanie Waring) and Zara Morgan (Kelly Condron) are facing a life in prison in Hollyoaks after their meticulously-planned heist went horribly wrong.

The trio, who moved in together last year and forged quite a bond, joined forces a number of months ago in a bid to help Cindy come up with a plan to buy back her beloved market.

With every possible option exhausted, Cindy decided that breaking the law was the only solution, roping gangster Grace into her plot, much to the horror of Zara, who urged the twosome to put a stop to their plan.

Cindy, however, refused, and with Grace seemingly having her own motives for wanting to get her hands on a truckload of cash, the heist was set in motion, with Damon Kinsella (Jacob Roberts) being roped in as their getaway driver.

Tuesday’s (June 27) first look offering of the Channel 4 soap saw the big day arrive, with Grace, Zara and Cindy donning funeral wear for the job, with Damon opting for a black suit as he got into the getaway car – a hearse, which they’d nicked from Norma Crow (Glynis Barber).

Cindy’s behaviour began to concern both Grace and Zara, who soon discovered that she had stopped taking her bipolar medication. That wasn’t the only revelation on the cards, however, as mid-job, Zara found out that Grace had been plotting to double-cross her friends and take the money for herself, having bought a villa in Rio.

There was animosity aplenty as the warring flatmates got their hands on the cash, loading it into a bag while they bickered. Cindy, meanwhile, didn’t really take much notice of the fact that Grace had stabbed them in the back, as she discussed how she felt more alive than ever.

But tragedy stuck, with Cindy accidentally pressing the emergency button, which shut the doors to the armoured van and set off the alarm, notifying the authorities that there was a crime in progress.

Grace did everything she could to prize the door open, but it was no use, with a bleak outcome seemingly on the cards for the trio.

What’s more, the first scene of the episode saw Grace discussing her actions, seemingly in the show’s signature police station interview room, which suggests that Grace is, in fact, apprehended for the crime. Will she be spending her life behind bars?

Will Cindy and Zara, for that matter? Is this really the end of the three legends? Or can we expect a twist on the cards?

Hollyoaks continues Wednesday June 28 at 7pm on E4 or stream the next episode on All4 from midnight.
