Maxine Minniver (Nikki Sanderson) will be rocked to her very core in Hollyoaks this Christmas when she finds out that Rafe Harcourt (Chris Gordon) is allegedly dying.

Rafe, as viewers know, is thought to be terminally ill after Dilly (Emma Johnsey-Smith) told Ethan Williams (Matthew James Bailey) such a thing in confidence earlier this year.

Sienna Blake (Anna Passey) was initially kept in the dark about the Earl’s diagnosis, but the truth came to light after Rafe let her in on his secret shortly after proposing to her.

Despite still being head over heels for Ethan, Sienna accepted the proposal, informing Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) that she intends to live out the rest of Rafe’s life with him, before returning to Ethan with her husband’s fortune.

Little does she know, however, that Rafe and Dilly are up to no good, with the pair not being siblings after all, but rather they’re husband and wife!

    Didn’t see that one coming.

Dilly is seemingly the one driving their scheme, hellbent on revenge on Sienna for reasons currently unknown, and her manipulation reaches new heights later this month.

Sienna is determined to build some bridges ahead of her wedding, starting with Maxine. Dilly, however, is keen to stop this connection in its tracks, telling Sienna that she is going to be her deputy maid of honour instead!

Here’s how to watch Hollyoaks in 2023

Hollyoaks will stream first (Picture: Lime Pictures)

Hollyoaks has a new schedule to better reflect viewing habits of TV audiences today. The show will no longer air on Channel 4. Instead, viewers can get their daily fix on the station’s online platform, formerly known as 4OD and All4, weeknights at 7:30pm on Channel 4 streaming.

If streaming isn’t your thing or maybe you simply prefer to watch on TV then you can catch the show as usual weeknights at 7pm on E4.

Determined to keep Maxine at bay, the schemer reveals to her that Rafe is dying, rendering the paralegal stunned. Dilly claims that she’s concerned for Rafe’s health and that the stress of a big wedding will limit his time even more.

Sienna, meanwhile, receives the shock of her life when Dilly presents her with the lime green bridesmaid dresses that she’s purchased, but Rafe admits that he asked his ‘sister’ to help, with Sienna left with little choice but to make things right with Dilly.

Having won this round, Dilly returns to her previous mission as she tells Maxine a pack of lies in a bid to put an end to her friendship with Sienna.

But just what is her endgame here?

One to watch: Friday December 15 from 7:30pm on Channel 4 streaming or Monday December 18 at 7pm on E4.
