We’ve finally got our first look at Heartstopper series 2 (Picture: Netflix)
Heartstopper fans have been given a first look at the upcoming new season, and it’s already a hit.
The Netflix series captured hearts around the world when it was released last summer, making instant stars of relative newcomers including Kit Connor and Joe Locke.
It’s been an absolute rollercoaster for the stars of the show, who overnight gained an army of fans overjoyed to see a lighthearted and romantic teen drama centred around LGBTQ+ young people.
After what feel like a very long wait, in April it was confirmed that series 2 of the acclaimed show would be arriving to the streaming service on August 3.
And now fans have been given a first look at the opening scene to the beloved drama.
On Saturday, Netflix’s special live event Tudum aired the very first scene, which opened with sweet polaroid photos of Charlie and Nick kissing, before the camera panned to Charlie waking up to a text from his boyfriend.

He gets ready for school, texting Nick the whole time – with a giant grin across his face – and arrives at class where he’s surprised by Nick greeting him with his hands over his eyes.
Pure joy – exactly what fans fell in love with in the first place.
That’s not all: Tudum also revealed the names of each of the eight episodes, which in order are: Out Family; Promise; Challenge; Heat; Truth/Dare; Sorry’ and Perfect.
Naturally, fans went absolutely wild, taking to Twitter in their droves to react with a lot of screaming, all-caps messages and ecstatic emojis.
As one extremely non-dramatic fan wrote: ‘IM WALKING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC.’
‘I can’t stop giggling this is so cute,’ another gushed, while one said they ‘cannot contain my excitement.’
‘August 3 can’t come quick enough,’ another agreed, while one warned they would be ‘UNBEARABLE’ once the series aired.

The young adult series centres on rugby boy Nick Nelson (Kit) and shy boy Charlie Spring (Joe) and the beginnings of their romantic relationship while studying at an all-boys grammar school.
However, they have no choice but to keep things on the down low, given that Charlie is being bullied and Nick has not yet come out.
Also starring Yasmin Finney and William Gao, the series’ massive success meant it was renewed for two more seasons.

Teasing series two, Yasmin – who is also set to star in Doctor Who – said there are ‘so many things that happen with [her character] Elle this season that you’re not ready for.’
‘I would say Elle is different in that she’s more confident. She surrounds herself with people that elevate her.’
Lead star Kit promised ‘amazing’ scripts from Alice Oseman, the creator of the original Heartstopper graphic novels.
Fellow lead actor Joe added that his character goes on a ‘journey’ this time.
‘His story’s a bit more mature.’
Heartstopper season 1 is available to stream on Netflix and season 2 lands on August 3.
