Hannah Ashworth (Emma Rigby) has reunited with ‘first love’ John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) in Hollyoaks after a whopping 16 years and we’re not crying we swear.
The long-awaited reunion, almost two decades in the making, comes in the latest offering of the Channel 4 soap, which can be streamed now.
Hannah and John Paul dated almost two decades ago but their relationship came to an end when the former walked in on the John Paul kissing Craig Dean (Guy Burnett).
At the time, John Paul hadn’t come out. The episode in question was rebroadcast during the Covid-19 pandemic as part of Friday Favourites.
History repeats in the new episode, which airs on E4 on Monday (January 22), with Hannah arriving at Hollyoaks High to find John Paul kissing Carter Shepherd (David Ames).
The reunion is an emotional one, with Hannah and JP delighted to see one another as they shared a heartfelt hug, which you can watch above.

Discussing the scenes, actor James Sutton said: ‘I am absolutely delighted to have Emma back at Hollyoaks village after all these years – it is brilliant fun, I hope the viewers enjoy seeing JP and Hannah together as much as we did filming it’.
John Paul, who now works at the high school as a teacher, recounts how his life hasn’t turned out exactly as he planned with more hardship than he expected while Hannah apologises for not keeping touch.
