Gregg Wallace doesnât think thereâs going to be another Celebrity MasterChef winner quite like the victor of the 2023 series.
On Friday night, Go Compare star Wynne Evans beat out Love Islandâs Luca Bish and Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh to win the BBC competition.
During the final episode, the trio of finalists had to serve up a faultless three course meal to impress judges Gregg and John Torode, with the opera singer impressing them enough to receive the coveted winnerâs title.
Following the result, Gregg explained why he believes the performer was a one-off winner for the celebrity version of MasterChef, after he followed in the footsteps of previous winners including Lisa Snowdon, Greg Rutherford and Phil Vickery.
âWynne gives us theatre. I have never seen a celebrity like him ever before and Iâm not sure we ever will again,â the TV presenter said.
From the looks of Wynneâs last dishes on the show, that sounds like the perfect description for his talents.

He began with a starter of Carmarthen-Japanese sumo tuna tartare with avocado, edamame beans and wasabi, served with deep-fried cockle popcorn and a mango egg.
This was followed by a main course of bread of Evans cannon of lamb, served on samphire with wild garlic, porcini mushrooms and lamb rendered fried bread, with pomme dauphine and a fondant leek, finished with a red wine and red currant jus.
Then finally for dessert, he made Bara Brith with Caerphilly cheese and fig jam, served with brie ice cream on crumbled Bara Brith and poached figs.
A spectacle if we ever saw one!
âThis is a brilliant feeling,â he exclaimed after his win.
âThe kids will love this, theyâll be like, âDad! I canât believe you did it when all you cook for us is beans on toast!â
âThe experience has totally changed my life. It has just been beautiful and I canât thank Gregg and John and everybody here at MasterChef enough.â
He continued: âWhen you start to believe in yourself, thatâs when good things start to happen. I donât know how a MasterChef winner celebrates but I know how a bloke from Carmarthen celebrates!â
Judge John added: âEvery single dish tells a story. His food, itâs exciting, itâs ambitious, and itâs got a little bit of artistic flare. Heâs a proud Welshman with a big heart.â
Celebrity MasterChef is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
