Greg James has a new reality show coming to Channel 4 and fans of The Traitors should be very excited.
The BBC Radio 2 star is fronting Rise and Fall, a new format from Studio Lambert and Motion Content Group focused on exploring what it takes to get to the top, including ‘how to win power, how to keep hold of it and how to use it to influence others’.
In a Twitter video announcing the project as he goes round the set for the series, Greg said: ‘It’s a game of winning power, so it’s about getting power, keeping power. Our contestants, 16 of them, are for all walks of life and they will live here.
‘Some of them will rise to the top, some will fall to the bottom, but one person will walk away with an enormous cash price.
‘It’s on Channel 4 very soon. That is all I’m allowed to say! But what I can say is it will be good, and I’d like you all to watch. Thank you.’
In a press release, the broadcaster revealed: ‘Sixteen ordinary British people, from all walks of life and ages, will begin the game as equals but soon find themselves either in a position of power as a Ruler or as part of the powerless as a Grafter.

‘While the Rulers live in an opulent penthouse, the Grafters must survive in basic conditions in the basement. And much like life, those in power will be responsible for making decisions that affect those who have none.’
They added: ‘Anyone can rise to a position of power and anyone can fall, but only one Ruler can win the prize fund at the end of the game. Who rises and who falls will be decided by the other Players.’

Greg will oversee the action as the Grafters ‘work hard to complete a series of gruelling games and challenges to build a cash prize fund only the Rulers can win’, while the Rulers themselves risk losing power if they push the Grafters ‘too hard’.
In a statement, the host said: ‘I’ve been waiting a long time for a show like this to come along that I can get stuck into and be the ringleader of. It’s an amazingly mad idea and the contestants are going to make some incredible TV.
‘It’s very exciting to launch something brand new on Channel 4 and I can’t wait to see how it all plays out. Let the power struggle begin…’
The format follows the success of BBC hit The Traitors, which is returning for a second season with Claudia Winkleman as host and sees contestants playing a game of bluff, with the Traitors trying to remain undetected by the Faithful.
Rise and Fall is coming soon to Channel 4 and All 4.
