UK weather: Good Friday weather the hottest day of the year so far
Friday is so far the hottest day of the year so far, with above-average temperatures across parts of the UK.
Good Friday – the start of the Easter Bank Holiday weekend there will be highs of 21-22 C expected in the south-east of England and 15-20C in many other areas, reports BBC weather.
It’s still a fair bit off the record for the month – set on 16 April 1949 at Camden Square in London – at a massive 29.4C.
Western parts of the UK are set to be cooler due to clouds and rain.
April has an average max temperature range from 10C in northern Scotland to 13C in southeast England.
April 2021 saw highs of 18-19C and in 2020, 26C was recorded on 10 April in Treknow, Cornwall.
The hot weather is expected to last through the weekend in central and eastern parts of the UK before becoming cooler on Monday, with highs of 10-14C for many but still 15-18C in the South and East, said BBC Weather’s, George Goodfellow.
