Global warming must be limited to 1.5°C to avoid ‘climate disaster’ warns the latest IPCC report
Euronews says we must halve emissions by 2030 in order to avoid the worst effects of the climate crisis, says the latest report from the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
However, the IPCC scientists also emphasise that it is not too late to limit global warming to 1.5°C by 2030.
Today’s report outlines how keeping in line with Paris Agreement goals will only be possible with immediate and substantial action.
At present we are on a pathway to exceed 3°C of global warming by 2030 – more than double the 1.5°C limit agreed in 2015 at COP21 in Paris.
