Strictly Come Dancing is bringing a beloved animated TV character to the ballroom for the first time in a ‘unique’ crossover.

The hit BBC show will be involved in this year’s Children In Need charity telethon and they’ve announced Bluey will be part of a routine with pros Dianne Buswell, Nadiya Bychkova, Neil Jones, Gorka Marquez, Johannes Radebe and Michelle Tsiakkas.

The ‘worldwide TV sensation’ – who has been kept kids and parents alike gripped for years since its launch in 2018 – will be performing a ‘playful dance’.

From the Mashed Potato and The Floss to The Alligator, Bluey and the pros will perform a routine for everyone to join in with to Land of 1,000 Dances.

Neil Jones said: ‘Many stars have taken to the ballroom over the years but this is next level!

‘I can’t think of any other better occasion for us to say G’day to Bluey than for BBC Children in Need. It’s going to be Fab-Blue-Lous!’

And producers heaped praise on the way animators have worked to bring Bluey – ranked on Barb as the number one kids’ show on CBeebies and iPlayer in the UK – to the dancefloor.

Sam Moor, producer at Ludo Studio, added: ‘We are so privileged to have Bluey invited onto the Strictly Dancefloor to share some of her iconic dance moves.

‘Our animators have done an awesome job to bring her into the glittering glamour of the Strictly world and we can’t wait for fans of both shows to enjoy the moment on the Children in Need night.’

The BBC and Children In Need are also inviting fans to take part in the Bluey’s Dance Mode Challenge before this weekend’s broadcast.

Everyone is being encouraged to use the hashtags #DanceWithBlueyChallenge and #BBCChildrenInNeed to share their best moves.

Children In Need returns on Friday at 7pm with a range of comedy, music and surprise guests with the goal of raising life-changing funds for young people across the UK.

Ade Adepitan, Mel Giedroyc, Rochelle Humes, Vernon Kay, Chris Ramsey and Lenny Rush will present the show live from Salford.

Paddy McGuinness is among those taking part, and today he’ll be kicking off a cycling challenge taking him across 300 miles to raise money for the telethon.

The comedian’s Radio 2 Ultra Endurance Cycle Challenge will hopefully raise thousands for charity, as he sets off at Wrexham Football Club before cycling through Flintshire, Cheshire, Merseyside, Lancashire, Westmorland, Cumbria, Dumfriesshire, and Lanarkshire.

On Friday, he’ll finish in Glasgow, and surprisingly, he hasn’t sought assistance from a personal trainer ahead of the mammoth task, but he has received plenty of tips and tricks from gold medallist Sir Chris Hoy.
