George Bush condemns his own invasion of Iraq as brutal (he meant Ukraine)
The Metro says George W Bush accidentally called the Iraq invasion ‘brutal’ and ‘unjustified’ in a very unfortunate ‘Freudian slip’.
The gaffe-prone former US President let his tongue slip during a speech at his presidential centre in Dallas, where he spoke about fair elections and attempted to slam Russia’s political system.
‘The result is an absence of checks and balances in Russia, and the decision of one man to launch a wholly unjustified and brutal invasion of Iraq,’ Bush said.
Realising his mistake, he then shook his head and corrected himself.
‘I mean, of Ukraine,’ he awkwardly added.
An excruciating silence descended before Bush appeared to mutter the words, ‘Iraq too, anyway.’
The crowd began to laugh and Bush made them giggle even more when he blamed the gaffe on his advancing years.
‘I’m 75,’ he added.
