Garth Brooks accused of sexual assault in lawsuit
Country music icon Garth Brooks is facing serious allegations of sexual assault and battery in a lawsuit filed by “Jane Roe.” The accuser, who worked as a hairstylist and makeup artist for Brooks from 2017 to 2020, claims that the Grammy-winning singer raped her, groped her, and made sexually explicit remarks during her employment. The lawsuit details multiple alleged instances of misconduct, including an incident in May 2019 when Brooks reportedly coerced her to share a hotel suite during a trip to Los Angeles, where the alleged rape occurred.
Brooks has strongly denied the accusations, calling the lawsuit “extortion and defamation” in a statement to the BBC. He claims that Jane Roe’s allegations emerged after he refused her request for salaried employment and medical benefits.
In addition to the assault accusations, Jane Roe’s lawsuit claims that Brooks exposed himself to her, made unwanted advances, and proposed a threesome involving his wife, fellow country music star Trisha Yearwood. The lawsuit, filed in California state court, comes just weeks after Brooks initiated legal action in Mississippi to counter the accusations, which he labelled as false and damaging to his reputation.
