Frankie Boyle waved Farewell to the Monarchy with his acerbic takedown of the Royal Family and it’s safe to say viewers were divided.
The controversial and outspoken comedian didn’t hold back as he took on Prince Andrew, Henry VIII and the Windsors as a whole in a scathing look back at the family’s history before King Charles’ coronation this weekend.
He quipped: ‘The time has come to say farewell to the monarchy. Let’s raise a bottle to them – filled with petrol and a burning rag.’
Frankie also took aim at Prince Andrew and the fallout from his infamous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight, referencing the £12 million settlement he was forced to pay Virginia Giuffre last year.
Looking into the family’s past with a cheeky dig, he teased: ‘Henry VIII was a keen hunter, and judging from his portraits, he mainly hunted cheese.’
He added: ‘Only England could watch a man abuse 6 different women and think children need to learn a rhyme to remember how he did it.’
Elsewhere in the programme, he joked about Elizabeth I and King Charles’ respective sex lives, leaving no stone unturned.
Opinion on the show has been split, with one viewer praising Frankie as an ‘hilarious and at times savage comedian’ while another added: ‘Loved this. Well done Channel 4 and Frankie Boyle. 👏👏👏👏👏’

‘Frankie Boyle’s farewell to the monarchy was the most enjoy television I’ve seen in a long time 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽,’ added a third fan.
Another person tweeted: ‘#frankieboylesfarewelltothemonarchy was the best thing I’ve watched all year. Brilliant. Frankie Boyle is truly the wittiest out there. Spot on observations whilst giving a history lesson. This should be how history is taught in schools.’
Others weren’t quite so happy with the programme, with some describing it as ‘vile’.

‘Absolutely vile and shame on Channel 4 for giving him airtime,’ one person tweeted, as another said: ‘Lowlights from Frankie Boyle… What an awful, vile man…’
While a third viewer argued: ‘So Frankie Boyle glorifies throwing petrol bombs at the monarchy, and that’s considered funny? If Jeremy Clarkson suggested throwing petrol bombs at anyone the left would be apoplectic with rage.’
