A woman who predicts major events using asparagus says it has revealed how the Women’s World Cup final will end on Sunday.

Jemima Packington – the world’s only asparamancer and known as ‘Mystic Veg’ – claims her spears show her the future by how they land on the ground after she throws them.

England’s national team the Lionesses are set to face Spain in a nail-biting conclusion at 11am on Sunday.

And the 66-year-old predicts the finale will be decided on penalties.

Jemima, of Bath in Somerset, said: ‘The asparagus has told me that we’re in for a tense final and the game will go to penalties.

‘But the Lionesses will come out as winners. I am sure of that. The asparagus could not reveal the score in normal time.

‘But I know it’s going to be an extremely exciting final. We are in for a treat and I am confident of the girls bringing the trophy home.

‘I will be glued to the TV myself. I have been watching every game and they have done the nation proud.

‘They are inspiring the next generation. It’s wonderful to see so many children into it too. It was really put women’s sport firmly on the map.’

At the end of last year, Jemima predicted the Lionesses would lift the World Cup trophy in Australia.

She has previously correctly predicted Brexit, the Queen’s death, and Harry and Meghan quitting the Royal Family.

But several of her predictions for 2022, such as Croatia winning the World Cup and Boris Johnson clinging on as prime minister, had less success.

She added her predictions started at the age of eight, saying her talent was inherited from her elderly aunt who used to read tea leaves.

‘My technique has not changed and I still cast the asparagus spears and interpret the patterns in them,’ Jemima said.

‘Seeing the patterns for me is instantaneous, possibly that is because I’ve had years of practice.

‘I am usually about 75% to 90% accurate with my predictions.

‘Occasionally I get one slightly off, where I haven’t quite read it correctly, but I’m never far off.’

She said she uses fresh Worcestershire asparagus grown in the Vale of Evesham, which is the UK’s main supplier of the vegetable.
