A big rise in infections has been posted, with 7,393 new cases confirmed today – but there is good news for South Somerset, Eastbourne, Rutland, Babergh and Mendip who have seen the lowest Covid in England.

But of the 315 local regions across the country, 272 have seen an increase for the seven days to June 6.

The figures are based on the number of people who have tested positive for Covid-19 in either a lab-reported or rapid lateral flow test over the last seven days.

The rate is expressed as the number of new cases per 100,000 people.
