Manchester United must include an obligation to buy Sofyan Amrabat if they want to convince Fiorentina to part with the midfielder.
The Red Devils finally submitted a proposal for the midfielder on Wednesday.
However, Fiorentina turned down the season-long loan deal, and informed United that they would prefer a permanent sale.
Amrabat has a year remaining on his deal in Florence, though the club have the option of a 12-month extension.

They had priced Amrabat at around £25m, and the Moroccan’s been left out of the last two matchday squads with the expectation that he would be sold.
But United do not have the funds to finance a move for Amrabat this summer as they haven’t raised enough funds through player sales to offset the £172m they’ve spent so far.
Fiorentina are said to be sympathetic to United’s situation but the Telegraph say they will not accept a straight loan deal and instead want United to commit to an obligation to buy the midfielder in 2024.
Provided Fiorentina extend his deal by 12 months, Amrabat will be going into the last year of his deal at that point.
