The father of Ana Clara Benevides has given a heartbreaking interview.
Taylor Swift was left devastated this weekend when 23-year-old Ana died after falling ill at one of the superstar singer’s Brazil shows.
Ana’s father has now addressed the tragedy, saying Ana ‘left for a dream and came back dead’.
Ana reportedly collapsed at the Estádio Olímpico Nilton Santos in Rio de Janeiro due to high temperatures.
The Taylor Swift fan was taken to hospital but sadly died an hour later.
Speaking to Folha de São Paulo newspaper, 53-year-old Weiny Machado called his daughter ‘happy and intelligent’.

He added, according to the Mirror: ‘I lost my only daughter, a happy and intelligent girl. She was about to graduate in Psychology next April.
‘I want it to be found out whether they were in fact prohibited from bringing water, whether there was negligence in providing assistance.’
Ana’s grieving father went on: ‘I know that the singer was handing out water to her fans, and that is absurd for an event of this size. Nothing will bring my daughter back, but I hope that, if negligence is confirmed, someone will be punished, so that this doesn’t happen to anyone else.’

Love Story singer Taylor, 33, was performing her sold-out show in Rio de Janeiro when Ana died, but took to Instagram straight after to share the sad news.
She penned: ‘I can’t believe I’m writing these words but it is with a shattered heart that I say we lost a fan earlier tonight before my show.
‘I can’t even tell you how devastated I am by this.
‘There’s very little information I have other than the fact that she was so incredibly beautiful and far too young.’

She went on: ‘I’m not going to be able to speak about this from stage because I feel overwhelmed by grief when I even try to think about it.
‘I want to say now I feel this loss deeply and my broken heart goes out to her family and friends.
‘This is the last thing I ever thought would happen when we decided to bring this tour to Brazil.’
On Saturday, Taylor confirmed she would be rescheduling that day’s performance due to the heat (Picture: Taylor Swift Instagram)
The show’s organisers, Time4Fun, said in a statement on Saturday morning that paramedics attended to Ana at the show and took her to a hospital, where she died an hour later.
It was earlier claimed she fell ill during the concert at the Nilton Santos stadium, where she fainted and was rushed to hospital.
While the cause of death has not been announced, media reported that fans were not allowed to take water into the stadium despite soaring temperatures.
On Saturday, Taylor confirmed she would be rescheduling that day’s performance due to the heat and it would now take place on Monday (November 20).
