Fans of F1 Manager 2022 are furious after the developer confirmed it is to stop providing updates, in favour of a sequel.
Back in August, Jurassic World Evolution studio Frontier Developments launched F1 Manager 2022, a management sim where instead of taking part in Formula One races yourself, you put together and manage a team of racers.
Although it was received fairly decently, it was not without its fair share of bugs, which many assumed would be fixed with future updates.
Shockingly, however, the next update will also be the last, as the studio has confirmed it’s already ending support for the game, after only two months.
An exact date hasn’t been given for this final update, which is said to include multiple visual updates for the cars, amendments to incorrect Estimated Race Time calculations, and other unspecified optimisations.
While the game may still receive minor patches down the line, they won’t be anything that will meaningfully affect the gameplay.
As for why Frontier Developments is calling it quits early, its community manager says that it’s so they can start working on other projects, including an F1 Manager sequel.
‘To ensure upcoming F1 Manager projects realise their potential and meet the expectations of both our team and our community, the development team’s focus must move fully onto projects beyond F1 Manager 2022, after this upcoming update,’ explains a post on the game’s subreddit.
‘Ever since we started to form the F1 Manager community, we’ve listened to and taken actions on your feedback and opinions whenever possible – and that will not be changing. Key reports and requests around F1 Manager 2022 from the community that are yet to be resolved will continue to be prioritised as we create future iterations in this franchise.’

As the first entry in this proposed series, this isn’t a good look for F1 Manager 2022, with players that gave the first game a chance now understandably furious.
‘This is terrible! I regret buying this game, and will not buy the next game,’ reads a comment from user Fettfjes, which has more than 200 upvotes at the time of writing and several replies from people saying the same thing.
‘I can understand that you’re trying to focus on F1 Manager 2023 now to make it better than 2022, but only two months of updates? And the updates even stop before the end of the F1 season? That’s rough,’ says Gruphius.
Some are assuming that, given the lack of specifics, the final update won’t even address the more glaring issues.
Frontier has even said it won’t be fixing an unlapping issue since it would ‘require significant gameplay alterations that are just not within scope for this game.’

‘So you won’t fix anything. Unlapping on safety car, AI not using Pace mode, AI using one engineer on research. Yeah. We wasted a lot of money for this game,’ says bronzechatop.
How Frontier’s future F1 management games will be handled is unclear. With its core, and niche, audience unimpressed with the first entry and swearing off any sequel it’s future is not looking too bright.
