This is what Walpeach looks like and could’ve been (Picture: Instagram)
The creator of Waluigi has shown exactly what the planned equivalent for Peach would’ve looked like and it’s… interesting.
Earlier this year it was revealed that developer Camelot designed a Wario-Peach type character for its 2004 title Mario Power Tennis, but that it got canned before it had a chance to make it into the game.
The character would’ve been an anti-hero similar character to Wario and Waluigi, with Peach’s doppelgänger set to be called Walpeach (all three names come from the Japanese word *warui*, which means bad).
Now, the designer who came up with the idea and initial designs has posted images of the scrapped character on Instagram, after the designs were deemed too similar to Doronjo from anime series Yatterman.
The drawings are in black and white and show the character with the same crown and necklace as Princess Peach, holding either a tennis racket or a huge axe.

The creator, Fumihide Aoki, said they thought the contrast between cute and scary would be interesting, but that it was eventually turned down:
‘I wanted to create a character that is a bit unexpected and that defies everyone’s expectations in a good way,’ they said.
‘I thought that Walpeach’s proposal would be accepted depending on the design, but I guess something was missing in this plan.’

The designer also posted a 3D model of the character, dressed up in purple, for a similar colour scheme to Wario and Waluigi.
While replying to praise and questions on Instagram, they revealed that they also had an idea to make Yoshi a ‘dragon with horns and wings’, as a sidekick for Walpeach.
That idea was thrown in the bin too, which makes you wonder how many other concepts and drawings Nintendo has been hiding away for years.
