Eva Longoria reckons that Desperate Housewives wouldn’t be made today due to the ‘shocking’ content.’
The 48-year-old actress played spoiled housewife Gabrielle Solis from 2004 to 2012, and during the eight years found herself embroiled in some epic storylines. This included her affair with the teenage ‘hot gardener’ John Rowland (Jesse Metcalfe), and when she threw her politician husband Victor Lang (John Slattery) into the ocean, he then casually survives the trauma and comes after her.
It was a wild time!
The rest of the cast was made up by Teri Hatcher (Susan Mayer), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) and Marcia Cross (Bree van de Kamp), who all lived on the fictional Wisteria Line and got into equal amounts of mischief.
Despite the series’ popularity, Eva doesn’t see it being made in 2023 as it would be ‘cancelled.’
‘I don’t know if we could do the show today. I think we’d get cancelled,’ she stated.

‘I mean, not cancelled on TV but like cancelled in culture because it was so groundbreaking and we said and did so many things that were shocking at the time,’ she explained to Entertainment Tonight.
While Eva outlines possible controversy and spoke about not knowing what the women would be doing now with their lives, she would still be up for doing a reboot. That’s our girl!
During a recent interview on ITV’s Lorraine, Eva said: ‘I’d be the first one to sign up.’ She added with a laugh: ‘I’d probably be the only one.’
‘I always tell Marc [Cherry, the show creator]: “So, you wouldn’t do a reboot?” He just thinks we have fully mined those characters. He doesn’t know what else there is to say about those characters.’
We think they should bring it back, and get Eva’s bestie Victoria Beckham on for a cameo – that would be iconic.
Desperate Housewives is available to stream on Disney Plus.
