The Everton goalkeeper saved the only spot kick of the shootout as the Three Lions were faultless from 12 yards. Trent Alexander-Arnold ultimately scored the winner but Switzerland missed their first penalty as the Manchester City centre-half saw his effort saved.

    England fans have been hailing Bukayo Saka ’s “redemption” after dragging the Three Lions into the Euro 2024 semi-finals. The Arsenal forward hauled the Three Lions level just five minutes after Switzerland’s opener. Breel Embolo had given his nation the lead. Saka’s stunning effort found England a foothold, before he then netted in the resultant penalty shootout. It was a full-circle moment for Saka who endured sickening racist abuse after failing from the spot in the Euro 2020 final against Italy.
