    Ethnic minorities ‘overexposed’ to Covid-19

BBC News says ethnic minorities in Britain “face greater barriers” when trying to protect themselves from coronavirus, according to a report.

The Runnymede Trust, a race equality think-tank, said Bangladeshi and black African people were most vulnerable. Jobs, households and using public transport are all said to be risk factors.

The government said it is working to help ethnic minorities, who have been disproportionately harmed by Covid-19.

Facebook, Twitter remove Trump posts after he says children are ‘almost immune’ to Covid-19

France24 says Facebook Inc on Wednesday took down a post by President Donald Trump, which the company said violated its rules against sharing misinformation about the coronavirus.

The post contained a video clip, from an interview with Fox & Friends earlier in the day, in which Trump claimed that children are “almost immune” to Covid-19.

“This video includes false claims that a group of people is immune from Covid-19, which is a violation of our policies around harmful Covid misinformation,” a Facebook spokesman said.

How Covid-19 precautions may have averted a higher Beirut toll

Arab News says the final casualty figures of the Beirut blast are still unknown, with many missing and the wounded still not counted. The toll could have been much higher, but for two factors: Summer working hours and remote work.

Many employees finished work at 3 p.m. and many others were working from home as part of the precautionary and preventive measures against Covid-19. Those who were in the vicinity have harrowing tales.

‘You’re breaking the law’ LA mayor vows to cut water & power supply to homes that host ‘large parties’

RT News says Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti has told residents hosting large home parties they can expect their water and power supply to be cut, a sharp escalation of the city’s strict Covid-19 measures amid a series of recent house parties.

“While we have already closed all bars and nightclubs, these large house parties have essentially become nightclubs,” the mayor said on Wednesday, vowing to treat residential homes the same as businesses that skirt health guidelines.

Japan Times says the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is considering designating two hospitals to treat patients infected with coronavirus amid a recent surge in cases, according to sources familiar with the issue.
