English pubs to close at 10 pm amid Covid-19 spread
BBC News says all pubs, bars, restaurants and other hospitality venues in England must have a 22:00 closing time from Thursday, to help curb the spread of coronavirus.
The sector will also be restricted by law to table service only.
The measures will be set out by the prime minister in the Commons before he addresses the nation in a live broadcast at 20:00 BST on Tuesday.

Czech PM says he got carried away reopening too soon
The Guardian says Czech PM Andrej Babis admitted Monday that his government had made a mistake when it eased restrictions aimed at containing coronavirus over the summer.
“Even I got carried away by the coming summer and the general mood. That was a mistake I don’t want to make again,” the billionaire populist said in a televised speech.

Iran records highest daily coronavirus cases since early June
Reuters says on Monday, the number of coronavirus infections in Iran had risen by 3,341 over a 24 hour period, the highest daily tally since early June, taking the total cases to 425,481, the health ministry spokeswoman told state TV on Monday.
Sima Sadat Lari said 177 people had died in the past day, pushing the official death toll to 24,478 in Iran – one of the hardest-hit countries in the Middle East.

Saudi health authorities ready to join trails of Covid-19 vaccine
Arab News says King Abdullah International Medical Research Center (KAIMRC) in Saudi Arabia is preparing to take part in advanced trials of one or two Covid-19 vaccines.
There are about 40 potential vaccines being tested on human, nine of them are at an advanced stage of clinical trials. He head of KAIMRC’s drug development said it was unprecedented to have nine vaccines at stage 3 so soon, less than a year since the virus emerged.

US Covid-19 deaths near 200,000, one in five of global death
Aljazeera says the US Covid-19 death toll was nearly 200,000 on Tuesday – accounting for more than one in five deaths globally, putting President Trump’s handling of the pandemic in the spotlight as he campaigns for the November election.
The US has reported at least 199,818 deaths, while the number of cases has reached more than 6.8 million, according to John Hopkins University. The CDC confirms more than 70 per cent of US deaths have been among people over the age of 65.

Covid-19 cases spike in Canada with authorities stepping up powers to police large gatherings
CNN says Canadian health officials across the country have pleaded with the public to stay home, stick to your bubble and mask up, as daily positive cases continue to climb to levels not seen since May.
Officials in the province of Quebec and in the country’s capital, Ottawa, have declared that a second wave has already taken hold in their cities and communities.
